After the success of the mobile cervical screening unit this summer, Southport and Formby PCN, Southport and Formby Health, and the 7-Day GP are offering even more smear test appointments this January for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.

If you live in Southport or Formby and have been invited for your cervical screening (or smear test)—or if you’ve missed one—you can now book directly with the 7-Day GP by calling 01704 395 755.

The 7-Day GP offers cervical screening in the evenings and on weekends, with extra appointments available throughout January to make it even easier for you to have your smear test done.

Cervical Screening: Why It Matters for Southport and Formby

Cervical screening is a simple way to check for early signs of cervical cancer. It can help stop serious health problems before they start. If you live in Southport or Formby, the 7-Day GP makes it easy to book an appointment, with lots of times available.

Why Do You Need a Cervical Screening?

Cervical cancer doesn’t always show symptoms early on, which is why regular screening is so important. It can spot changes in the cervix before they turn into cancer. This means screening can save lives.

If you’re aged 25-49, you’ll be invited every three years. If you’re 50-64, it’s every five years. If you’ve had a reminder, now’s the time to book.

What Happens During the Test?

We know some people feel nervous, but the test is quick, simple, and safe. A nurse will take a small sample of cells from your cervix. This only takes a few minutes. It might feel a little uncomfortable, but it shouldn’t hurt.

If you’re worried, talk to your nurse or GP—they’ll make sure you feel at ease.
