Appointment triage systemLast Updated: Monday, 16 October 2023
Due to the current unprecedented demand for GP appointments, we are operating a new system for patients to access same day appointments.
This system will ensure that those patients in most need of a same day appointment are prioritised and allocated an appointment with the most appropriate clinician.
Same day appointments
Our duty doctor will be evaluating the information given to our care navigators who will take some basic details from you and ensure that you are available to attend for a same day appointment at the time allocated.
In order to run this service efficiently, where appropriate, we will be using text messages to contact patients with the details of their appointment. For those without mobile phones, you will be contacted back by a member of staff with the details.
Following day appointments
To ensure safe practice at all times, as safety is our greatest priority, the GP may suggest that certain conditions may be more suitably dealt with the following day or a later time. You will be informed of an appropriate appointment as required.
Having listened to all of the feedback form patients over recent months, both positive and negative, we hope this new system will ensure that we are making the most efficient and effective use of our available resources.
Book appointments online
If you want to avoid the phone queue you can use our online consultation system called Florey which is available via our website home page called 'Get help and advice online'. You will be able to request help for medical problems with a method of communication that suits you. It is not a tool to request a telephone or face to face appointment.
This enables you to complete one of several different questionnaires appropriate to your symptoms or condition.
Using this service is simple to use and contains extensive self-help and signposting resources.
