Consultations are by appointment which can be made in person, by telephone, or on line via NHS App You may consult any of the doctors but it's probably beneficial to keep to one who knows you best. A receptionist will offer you the next available appointment but please let them know if you feel the problem is urgent, and we will do our best to see you at short notice.

If you can't keep an appointment, please let us know so that we can offer it to someone else.

All S&F residents are now able to access the 7 day service , based at The Family Surgery. These appointments are offered Monday - Friday 5-8.00pm as well as Saturdays and Sundays. Our receptionists can give you more information on this as well as book you appointments.

Making Online Appointments

To increase patient access to our services we offer a 24 hour online appointment booking system. First of all you must register to use the internet appointment booking facility. Ask the receptionist for a registration form, which provides the information you need to register to use the internet facility. After initial registration, the system will allow patients to book, cancel or check appointments on the Web, whatever time or day and send you immediate confirmation of the booking. You will automatically be added to the appointment list, so there is no need to re-confirm by e-mail or telephone - just arrive promptly on the day!

Once the registration process is complete, you can log on to the appointments systems using your individual patient number and password, and will be able to view appointments you have already made, cancel them if necessary, and book an appointment with your doctor after checking the times available.

You can also now sign up to the new NHS APP, which doesn't involve any completion of forms in the practice). You can download this app in the app store on your smart device.

e-Consults are available at our surgery.

e-Consult lets you as a patient consult with their own NHS GP's online by completing a quick form that is sent and reviewed by the practice. You may also be directed to self-help, pharmacy advice and local self-referral services.

It takes GPs and admin staff approximately 5 minutes to process an e-Consult.  An e-Consult should take away the need for a face-to-face appointment.

e-Consult should NOT be used to request a face-to-face appointment with a GP.  If you feel you need a face-to-face appointment, please ring the surgery to book a telephone appointment to speak to a GP who will triage your call and make arrangements for you to attend the surgery if appropriate.

Telephone Consultations

You can request a telephone consultation with a GP/Nurse/Clinical Pharmacist – the receptionist can take your details and the clinician will ring you back to discuss your concerns.

Practice Nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
