Practice Management

Cumberland House Surgery has a management team consisting of a part-time Practice Manager and two part-time Deputy Managers.

The Practice Manager is Rachel Cummings and our Deputy Managers are Vikki Brown and Torie Gooden.

The management team are involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses, aswell as advise the suitability of seeing our Nurse Practitioner, or whether, in some instances, a telephone consultation would be suitable with a GP. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with patient records and carrying  out practice audits by gathering important information from patients when they make contact with the practice.  The receptionists role is an integral part of day-to day running of the practice

Secretaries

As well as typing letters, handling emails and faxes to and from the local hospitals, the medical secretaries deal with patients' telephone enquiries each day between 9.00am and 3.00pm.
