Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen Hospital invited eligible women this year for breast screening. The uptake within our practice population was unfortunately rather low, 67%, and the practice would encourage every woman invited to attend for this screening as imaging is the best method for detecting breast cancer.  Screening saves about 1 life from breast cancer for every 200 women who are screened. This adds up to about 1,300 lives saved from breast cancer each year in the UK.

On this round of screening 9 people were diagnosed with breast cancer out of 1177 women who were screened.
