Clinics & Services
Childhood Vaccination Clinics
These are run by our practice nurses. They are held on Thursday mornings by appointment only. If you require general health advice or weighing your baby there are several Drop in Clinics available:
- Children’s Centre, Linaker Street - Tuesday 14:00 – 16:00
- Parenting 2000 Mornington Road - Friday 13:00 – 15:00
- Butterflies Children’s Centre Deveonshire Road - Friday 09:30 – 12:00
Friday afternoons by appointment. The midwives who are based at Ormskirk District General Hospital visit the surgery once a week to provide ante-natal care and advice in conjunction with the GPs. They are usually the midwives who will visit you at home after you have had your baby. All the doctors see expectant mothers in normal surgeries. Newly pregnant mothers can now book in to see the midwife without seeing a GP.
Run by our practice nurses by appointment only.
GPs can refer to Inclusion Matters. See their website for help with self-management of mental health problems www.inclusion-matters-sefton-org.uk.
You can ask a GP for advice as to whether a lesion needs surgery. Some minor conditions such as warts and veruccas can be treated by cryotherapy at the surgery.
Run by our practice nurses.
Contraceptive Advice - Coil Fitting
Coil fitting is available from Dr Irvine and Dr Speed. Dr Tim Irvine also undertakes a contraceptive implant service.
Patients can see Dr Tim Irvine for this service. The first appointment will be a review of the condition to ascertain if a joint injection is clinically indicated. The joint injection will be carried out in a further appointment after an initial consultation.
Our practice nurses hold specific clinics for travel advice. If our clinics are full you will be offered details of other agencies that can provide this service privately.
Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease
Offer to patients aged between 40-74 years and patients can make an appointment for blood tests with our healthcare assistant Paula, and then they will see our practice nurse approximately one week later for results and advice on CVD prevention.
We offer chlamydia testing kits, which you can obtain by dropping into the practice if you are aged 24 years and under. This is a simple test that you can carry out yourself at home, which includes a pre-paid envelope to send the sample back. You will then be text your results. If you would prefer please feel free to make an appointment with one of our practice nurses to discuss this further.
